Let me be honest — I used to be terrible with money.
I would get paid, feel rich for like two days, and then wonder where it all went by the end of the week. Sound familiar? If you’re anything like me, you probably didn’t grow up learning about saving, budgeting, or investing. Most of us didn’t. School taught us algebra, not how to manage a paycheck.
But one day, I got tired of feeling broke all the time. I didn’t want to keep repeating the same cycle — working hard and still stressing about bills or feeling guilty after buying something small. So I decided to change that.
Here’s what I did. Nothing fancy — just small steps.
I Started Tracking My Spending
I opened my bank app and looked at my transactions. It was honestly a bit scary. I had no idea I was spending that much on food deliveries and random online stuff I didn’t really need.
So I started using a simple notes app to write down what I spent each day. Not a spreadsheet or anything technical — just a daily habit. It made me way more aware of where my money was going.
I Made a Budget That Actually Worked
I used to think budgeting meant saying no to everything. But now I see it differently — it’s just giving every dollar a job.
I made a super simple budget:
-
Rent
-
Bills
-
Food
-
Fun (yes, you NEED to give yourself permission to have fun)
-
Savings (even if it’s just a few euros/dollars)
I didn’t follow it perfectly. I still mess up. But that’s okay. It’s progress, not perfection.
I Learned About Passive Income (Kinda by Accident)
One night I randomly clicked a video about passive income. You know, making money while you sleep. At first, I thought it was just clickbait. But the more I watched, the more it made sense.
I’m not saying I’m rich or anything. But I started doing small things like:
-
Selling digital products (templates, PDFs)
-
Promoting affiliate links for tools I actually use
-
Investing a tiny bit in ETFs
It adds up over time.
Why I’m Sharing This
I made this blog because I wish I had someone break things down simply when I started. Not in a “finance bro” way with complicated terms, but like a friend explaining what worked for them.
If you’re just getting started, don’t stress. You don’t need to be perfect or become an expert overnight. Just start. Even reading this blog is a step in the right direction.
In future posts, I’ll share more about the tools I use, mistakes I made, and the easiest ways to grow your money even if you’re starting with almost nothing.
Thanks for reading 🙏
